On the birthday of our Basic Law on 23 May, everyone in Germany was invited to celebrate social interaction \u2013 first time ever with a day for getting involved all across the country. And you were part of it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the two weeks from 16 to 31 May 2026, you organised several thousand activities. And many more thousands of people took part. Through your activities, you drew a fantastic, bright picture of community, positive and vibrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because that is the idea behind Ehrentag: on the birthday of our constitution, everyone is invited to roll up their sleeves to make our country a little bit better. The focus is on fun and meeting people. Associations, organisations, companies, municipalities and individuals in both urban and rural areas are invited to organise activities for people to join in. These can include litter collection campaigns, inclusive football tournaments, street parties, singalongs, games evenings in retirement homes \u2013 there are no end of ideas, as you can see on the social wall below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thank you very much for your creativity and your engagement, and for taking part! At the end of the day, democracy depends on people getting involved.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Ehrentag brings people together \u2013 regardless of their age and background. New projects will be launched in your local area, and the day will be a source of fresh ideas and joint experiences with a great and lasting impact. But, above all, it should be fun. Ehrentag shows that volunteering has many faces. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n Working for the common good strengthens us all: the feeling of being able to shape our own world; the sense of belonging; trust in society \u2013 Ehrentag is about trying things out and getting involved \u2013 for a better, fairer and more liveable Germany. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nBringing people together<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
